Lundy, Isle of Avalon

Logres

This is really important, Unilever, the makers of Dove beauty products, are buying palm oil from suppliers who destroy Indonesia's rainforests. They're causing forest destruction, species extinction and climate change. By their own admission, Unilever is the biggest single user of palm oil in the world, which is why they can't wash their hands of this problem. We mustn't let them.

Logres, a word which in Arthurian romance is never far removed from the Otherworld,  was one of the ancient names for north Devon / Cornwall - Arthur's kingdom

from 'Conte de Graal' by Chrétien de Troyes

The prologue opens by telling us - 'Realm of Logres was once paradise on earth.  Throughout the land maidens lived by sacred grottoes, wells & springs. These maidens

served wayfarers and the  realm was at peace. Until the

evil King Amangons ravished one of the maidens, held her in captivity, stole her sacred bowl. His men followed their king's example. From that day on the sacred realm of Logres turned into a wasteland.  The court of the Fisher King disappears from mortal sight.

The land of Logres "lost the voices of the Wells"

The desolate, unfertile wasteland is the result of the  loss of contact with the Otherworld.

when the Saxon king Alfred tried to recreate Arthur's kingdom he was also recreating Logres.

"Camelot was destroyed with all the significant features of Logres when Mark invaded after the death of Lancelot." (from 'Palamedes' circa 1260.)

And Iorwerth made an inroad into Loegria, slaying the inhabitants, and burning houses, and carrying away prisoners." - The Dream of Rhonabwy

Loegaire - 5th c Irish  King. at the time of St. Patrick
