Lundy, Isle of Avalon

 St. George and the Dragon

This is really important, Unilever, the makers of Dove beauty products, are buying palm oil from suppliers who destroy Indonesia's rainforests. They're causing forest destruction, species extinction and climate change. By their own admission, Unilever is the biggest single user of palm oil in the world, which is why they can't wash their hands of this problem. We mustn't let them.

Nothing definite is known about the life of St. George. The date of his martyrdom is usually considered to have been in the 3rd century AD. St. George was originally an eastern saint and his cult spread westward from its source in LYDDA.  Sometime between 1222 & 1415 St. George of Cappadocia was adopted as the patron saint of England. St. George has also been equated with St. Demetrius of Thessalonica.

There are marked similarities between the characteristics of St. George and those of St. Michael

The main legend associated with St. George concerns his slaying of the dragon and the rescue of the princess, Sabra or St. Margaret
